Today I am showcasing Villa Oliva, a private family owned property. Villa Oliva has stunning gardens to the front, rear and side of the main villa, all of which are available for exclusive hire for weddings.
At the present time we are unable to travel to Italy. Therefore we are not able to plan any venue search trips. Hence, I have decided to bring you a virtual showcase of Italian wedding venues. Over the next few weeks I will publish regular blog posts on a number of venues. There will be a new one every few days, so keep a look out for them as I am planning to write about some truly special Italian wedding venues.
Villa Oliva is located a few miles outside the historic walled city of Lucca, in the small hamlet of San Pancrazio. It is just 30-40 minutes from Pisa airport and therefore easily accessible for you and your guests.
In common with many of the other venues I am showcasing, the grounds of Villa Oliva are rented to you on a dry hire basis. To find out what I mean by this click here.
What is included at Villa Oliva?
The Villa Oliva hire contract includes use of:
- All of the extensive grounds
- A very beautiful restored Limonaia, which can seat up to 210 for your wedding dinner should you need to resort to your Plan B (wet weather)
- A large glass greenhouse, which can be used by your caterers, and/or for dancing in the event of wet weather
- A stables building which is a good location for a wet weather ceremony
- On site self-catering accommodation; this is not in the main villa which remains the residence of the Oliva family, but in the stables block which offers various apartments sleeping up to approximately 16 guests
What I love about Villa Oliva is the possibility to bring your guests in via the main entrance and only gradually introduce them to each beautiful location within the grounds. So my preference is always to host the wedding ceremony on the lawn in front of the main villa.
Following the ceremony, we direct your guest to the rear of Villa Oliva. Here they will find another lawn featuring a fountain and lovely views. Its a perfect setting in which to relax, enjoy the Aperitivo hour and watch the sunset.
The main “space” for your wedding reception is the main lawn, which features a fountain in the centre. This is only revealed to guests once we call them for dinner. It makes for a spectacular “reveal” with the stage being set in front of an impressive sculpture which can be lit to create drama. Bulb or fairy lighting above all of the tables adds to the scene.
You can play live or recorded music and dance outside in the grounds of Villa Oliva until 1am. After this time the party moves inside into the Limonaia, where you are able continue as late as you like.
One final tip about Villa Oliva
Villa Oliva really is a hidden gem and I mean this in the strict sense of the word “hidden”. It is located in the heart of the countryside and I would advise any couple to ensure that transport is provided for all guests. This then gives the opportunity to refrain from disclosing the name of your wedding venue, thus keeping it a secret. This adds so much to the surprise element on the day.
