Recently, I headed to the Essex coast with a mission; to create a Jewish destination wedding on Osea Island.
Osea Island is a small privately-owned island, available for exclusive hire for weddings and special celebrations.
Right now, many of you may be reluctant to embark on planning an overseas Jewish destination wedding. So I decided to bring the Hamptons to the UK to show you just how you can create your own Jewish destination wedding here in the UK.
The concept for our Jewish Destination Wedding on Osea Island
Osea Island is reminiscent of The Hamptons in the US, with its cool, casual vibe and Hamptons style interiors in many of the properties.
The blue colour palette chosen for the shoot is “very Hamptons” but more than that, it emulates the coastal setting. We added in white, and a pale blush peach but generally kept the palette very soft and muted. We teamed the colour palette with an elegant, sophisticated yet understated design scheme. This includes beautiful florals, lush linens, high class furniture and luxury tableware. We also added in crystal accessories to showcase the sophistication of the design without making it too glitzy.
We called our shoot “Bringing the Hamptons to the UK”.
The Setting for this Jewish Destination Wedding
We staged our Chuppah and wedding dinner table in a garden bordering the beach front whilst the tide was in. And we watched the scene come to life as we progressed from daylight, through the golden hour into darkness. It was truly a spectacular and romantic setting for a Jewish destination wedding on a UK island.
Chuppah – Jewish Marriage Canopy
For the Chuppah, the bride wore a beautiful Pronovias dress from Mirror Mirror London.
Our chuppah chairs were the traditional Airondack chairs, again reminiscent of the Hamptons, but also liberally scattered on this island
Beside the Chuppah our table featured items of contemporary Judaica and our Ketubah was displayed on a clear easel.
Dinner Table Design
As a wedding planner and designer, I have always loved the idea of a serpentine dinner table and it just seemed the right fit for this styled shoot. I felt that it reflected the coastline, the waves, and also the ridges in the sand caused by the tide. Couple that with a dreamy pergola dressed with voile and the most epic fairy light canopy. The outcome was the most spectacular setting for our wedding dinner table.
Our florals showcased the hydrangea flower; it’s a floral that I love but more than that, it’s the unofficial flower of The Hamptons.
We created a beautiful invitation and wedding day stationery suite, which incorporated nods to the nautical setting and the hydrangea flower.
This design was carried through into our escort cards which were displayed beautifully using mother of pearl.
And we also styled a beautiful gift table composed of various items of contemporary Judaica.

Suppliers for this Jewish Destination Wedding Styled Shoot
The design inspiration and the detailed scheme for this Jewish destination wedding shoot on Osea Island was the work of Elegante by Michelle J. But it could not have been brought to fruition without a successful collaboration with a fantastic team of talented and passionate wedding industry suppliers.
