Chloe and Danny were married at Villa di Maiano in Fiesole, a small medieval town just above Florence in Italy. The first time Chloe set eyes on the venue she burst into tears – we all knew then that this would be the choice for her and Danny’s dream Florence wedding. Over 200 guests, mainly from the UK, joined us in Florence for a three day celebration of their marriage which started with a welcome event at a central Florence restaurant and culminated with the wedding itself. I am delighted to say that his gorgeous wedding was featured by Smashing the Glass.
Jewish Ceremony in Florence (Chuppah)
Chloe and Danny wanted an outdoor ceremony and with their large guest numbers we struggled a little to decide upon the perfect space at the venue. Ultimately, it required an element of creativity – and a huge leap of faith in my vision from Chloe and Danny – as we turned the former carriage driveway (nowadays car park) into their Chuppah setting.
In reality, the space lent itself perfectly. Surrounded by trees it not only provided much needed shade but it also added intimacy – surprising, really, given the large guest numbers, but it really did work perfectly.
Florence Wedding Reception
Following the Chuppah, guests were invited to make their way to the lawns at the rear of the villa where they were treated to lavish drinks, canapes and food corners, all supplied by Florence-based caterer, Delizia Ricevimenti.
The cocktail hour was relaxed and enjoyable, with guests able to sit and experience the most spectacular views of the City of Florence. It meant that Chloe and Danny and their families were able to spend time with their photographer without worrying at all that their guests would be becoming restless.
Italian Destination Wedding Flowers and Styling
Chloe chose a gold and blush pink colour palette, with a touch of grey for their wedding day; this started with the invitation and ran on into the table centrepieces and event day stationery.
However, the main feature on the day was undoubtedly the top table, which was placed on to a purpose built platform opposite the stage and at the end of the dance floor. With a pergola over the top, our supremely talented florists, Il Giardino delle Fate Flower Design, were able to create a masterpiece of flowers, foliage and candles.
Destination Wedding Entertainment
Entertainment was provided by Club Live, a London-based band who flew out to Florence especially for the wedding. Guests danced before dinner, between courses, after dinner and then again at the after party. The atmosphere was electric with an amazing connection between the band and all of the guests. Lighting, sound and production were provided locally in Florence by Alma Project 24/7.
We culminated the outdoor party with the wedding cake “ceremony” followed by fireworks and then at midnight adjourned into the Limonaia for an after party, which ran on until 2am.
Details, details, details…
In addition to the usual carefully curated little details (fans, heel protectors, mirrored table plan etc), on this occasion we were able to incorporate something very personal to Chloe’s family. Chloe’s father is a stonemason, and provided individual plaques for each guest which served as their place name card and also as a guest favour. Chloe’s father is also known for always carrying mints in his pockets, so all guests were treated to “Chloe and Danny” branded mints on arrival at the Chuppah.
Chloe and Danny, your wedding was a true delight to plan, thank you!
